Hannah Benbow was appointed as Research Librarian, Cartoons at the Alexander Turnbull in January 2016.
She holds an MA in New Zealand history from Canterbury, which looked into the contribution of expatriate journalists to the content of the New Zealand press between the 1890s and beginning of WW2. This research focussed on the lives and writing of a small group of New Zealand journalists, finding that their work had a distinctly patriotic focus.
Hannah also holds an MIS from Victoria, with both library and archives endorsements. For the research component of this degree, she focussed on the roles of archivists and librarians in outreach activities.
Her previous professional roles have been in academic and corporate libraries, most recently as an information management adviser at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and the Treasury.
