Nevile Lodge

Lodge contributed cartoons to army publications during World War II. Freelancing after the war, he drew his first ‘Lodge Laughs’ cartoons for the Evening Post in 1947, becoming the Wellington evening daily newspaper’s political cartoonist in 1956. He freelanced for another decade – contributing to the Free Lance, the NZ Truth and the New Zealand Listener - before joining the Evening Post staff, where he was editorial cartoonist until 1988.
