Chris Slane

Slane, who has a town planning degree, has been a freelance cartoonist for nearly 40 years. A four times winner of the Qantas Media Cartoonist-of-the-Year award, Slane currently contributes editorial cartoons, illustrations and strips to the New Zealand Listener, Metro and The New Zealand Farmers Weekly. His cartoon books include Sheep Thrills and Blokes, Jokes and Sheds. In 1996, he co-authored the graphic novel Maui: Legends Of The Outcast and, in 2011, Nice Day For A War: Adventures of A Kiwi Soldier in WW1 . He has created political puppets for television.
